Inconvenience No. 2

Comment spam has not yet ebbed away. Despite the tightened countermeasures, I still get loads of spam comments – obviously, Serendipity has an understanding of the term “reject” which strikingly differs from mine… In other words: all the spam isn't published, but I still have to delete the whole rubbish manually. This is a stupid, harassing activity stealing my precious leisure time. Consequently, I decided to finish the problem off by completely deactivating the commenting function.

Irgendwie ging mir der „verstrahlte Bitmüll“ aus Isotopps Beitrag nicht aus dem Sinn – und so kann man ihn erzeugen:

mkdir ~/.secret
for ((i=1 ; i<=$(($RANDOM%55 + 123)); i++)); do
    dd if=/dev/random of=~/secret/terr.attck.plan.v0$(($RANDOM%547 + 100)).rfs bs=$((($RANDOM%15 + 1) * 1024 * ($RANDOM%1023 + 1))) count=1
done

Funktioniert allerdings nur mit der Bash, anderen Shells fehlt die Variable $RANDOM. Wozu das gut sein soll? Keine Ahnung…

The Art of LART

Eben beim Kernel updaten habe ich festgestellt, dass grsecurity mit einem netten Feature nachgelegt hat. Die Trusted Path Execution (kurz TPE) wurde um die Option „Partially restrict non-root users“ erweitert. Damit dürfen normale User nur noch Dateien ausführen, die entweder in einem Verzeichnis liegen, das root gehört und auf dem nur root Schreibrechte hat (das war mit TPE bisher auch schon möglich), oder in einem Verzeichnis liegen, das dem User gehört und in dem nur der User Schreibrechte hat (das ist neu).
